Data Science, BS

The bachelors degree will combine mathematical and ethical foundations with data science foundations and computational training in analytics, modeling, decision-making, and application areas. It will draw on lower division and upper division courses from CIS, MCS, and EBM. It will also incorporate lower division and upper division courses from other campus programs, such as Applied Math and Computer Science and Engineering. A number of new courses, for instance, in foundations and methods of data science, will be required; some of these may serve multiple majors (including those managed by CIS and EBM) and some may provide new teaching opportunities for MCS faculty. The bachelor’s degree will also include a capstone activity, such as an internship or research project.
